Brent Dahlstrom was born in Waterloo, IA in 1984, son of Kathy and Keith Dahlstrom. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 2003, and went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa where he majored in finance, economics, and real estate. While at UNI, Brent was very involved in athletics, and became an All Missouri Valley Conference winner in track.
Brent started his first business as a senior in high school when he began acquiring tickets to certain events and reselling them on his website and various other web platforms. Brent named this business Dolly’s Tickets, which is a reference to the nickname Brent has gone by for much of his life, Dolly. In a short amount of time, Brent began to make a profit off of this new ticket selling business, but rather than merely being satisfied with the extra income he was receiving like most college kids would be, he understood from the beginning the importance of reinvesting those profits into his business in order to develop a better method of both acquiring tickets to events and also delivering to customers via the web. Since that time, Dolly’s Tickets has exploded with exponential growth, now serving tens of thousands of ticket buyers across the nation as well as internationally with the largest inventory of tickets on the internet. Dolly’s Tickets employs 18 people in their downtown Cedar Falls location.
With the profits he generated from Dolly’s Tickets, Brent went on to create and develop more businesses. In addition to Dolly’s Tickets, Brent also owns Cedar Valley properties, which is a real estate company that acquires unique rental properties throughout the Cedar Valley. Brent owns and operates over 50 properties in the Cedar Valley. Brent is also very passionate about the Cedar Valley community, and his company Hi Yield, LLC, which is one of his real estate holding companies, is currently working with the City of Waterloo on its River Trail Development Project. Hi Yield, LLC, plans to construct six three-story 12-plexes, including garages, on the East banks of the Cedar River. Hi Yield, LLC, is also in the process of renovating the Park Tower apartment building on East Park Avenue and Sycamore Street in Waterloo.
Brent’s most recent company, Dolly’s Taxi, was created when Brent saw an opportunity for the Cedar Valley to have a reliable form of taxi service that was lacking in the market at that time. Brent saw the need for people in the Cedar Valley to have a safe and reliable taxi service, one where they did not have to wait for two hours or more for the taxi to arrive. Within seven short days of recognizing this need, Dolly’s Taxi was born. Today Dolly’s Taxi has an entire fleet of drivers, offering services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and also has a party bus that can be rented for birthday parties and other special occasions.
Brent is the definition of an entrepreneur, taking the success of his initial business, Dolly’s Tickets, and creating multiple other businesses in the Cedar Valley. Like most entrepreneurs, Brent isn’t
