Cheryle has guided the Kirkwood Foundation for nearly 17 years, building the resource development program from a one-person operation into one of the most successful community college foundations in the country. One of her greatest challenges has been the growth and transformation of the Kirkwood Foundation’s development program. Under her leadership and tireless efforts, the Foundation’s assets have increased from $300,000 to over $11 million. The Foundation’s donor base also grew from a mere 100 donors to more than 6,800.
Cheryle has always shared her time and talents with her community. After a short tenure as an elementary teacher, Cheryle decided to leave her teaching position and raise a family. Although no longer receiving a paycheck, she continued to work full time as a community volunteer. Cheryle was an active member of the Junior League of Cedar Rapids. This is where she honed her skills in people management, fundraising, communications and community leadership. Her years of public service and community involvement have not only helped enhance the quality of life in Cedar Rapids, but also expanded the reach and reputation of Kirkwood.
