This summer, students will have the opportunity to step into the world of entrepreneurship, explore exciting careers, and experience what it takes to run a real community during Junior Achievement BizTown® Summer Entrepreneur Camp hosted by Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa and the Iowa City Community School District.
The camp will take place July 6–10, 2026, at the Center for Innovation (2255 N. Dubuque Rd., Iowa City). Designed for curious and motivated students, this week-long experience blends entrepreneurship education, career exploration, and hands-on learning to help students discover how the skills they learn in school connect to real-world opportunities.
Throughout the week, students will collaborate with peers to develop business ideas, build teamwork and leadership skills, meet local professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of how businesses and communities work together.
A Week of Real-World Learning
Each day of Junior Achievement BizTown® Summer Entrepreneur Camp offers a dynamic mix of activities designed to engage students and spark their curiosity.
Mornings begin with the Junior Achievement BizTown® Summer Entrepreneur Camp learning sessions, where students dive into the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Through interactive lessons and team-based activities, students explore how businesses operate, develop their own business ideas, and practice problem-solving and leadership skills. As they work together, they begin to understand how money flows through a community and what it takes to build and run a successful business.
In the afternoons, the learning continues with experiences that bring careers and industries to life.
During Junior Achievement Roadshow, students will leave the classroom to visit local businesses and explore the wide range of careers available in their community. Professionals will share what their work looks like each day and how they found their career paths, giving students a real glimpse into the future.
Students will also participate in the Junior Achievement Learning Lab, where community partners lead hands-on activities that allow students to explore industries, solve real-world challenges, and see how classroom concepts connect to real careers.
The week culminates with the exciting Junior Achievement BizTown® Mobile Simulation, where students step into a fully functioning town. Each participant takes on a job, helps operate a business, earns and manages money, and collaborates with other teams to keep the town running successfully. It’s an immersive experience that brings together everything students have learned throughout the week and shows how entrepreneurship, teamwork, and community all work together.
