Chris Klitgaard
MediRevv
Laureate 2012
Chris grew up in Harlan, Iowa and was the oldest of five children. Having a father who owned his own business, Chris grew up in an entrepreneurial family and showed an interest in business as an early age. When he was young, he used to sell his belongings to his siblings and he was always finding a way to make money.
Following high school, Chris went to the University of Iowa where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, a Master of Business Administration in Finance, and a Master of Health Administration. During his time at Iowa, Chris continued to showcase his entrepreneurial spirit and natural leadership skills. He was President of his fraternity his senior year and ran his own disc jockey business.
Chris began his career completing a post-graduate fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This ultimately led Chris to a leadership role encompassing the patient access, patient accounting, and health information management functions. During these formative years, Chris found his passion for improving all aspects of the revenue cycle and made the decision to start his own revenue cycle management business.
In 2007, Chris founded Precision Revenue Strategies, later renamed MediRevv. MediRevv is a healthcare revenue cycle management company that helps hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, and physician groups improve their cash flow and grow their revenue.
No matter what the industry, any company with a singular focus has a distinct advantage. MediRevv is singularly focused on healthcare. Unlike most companies, they provide complete transparency to their clients. Another significant differentiator for MediRevv is their workforce. They pride themselves in hiring the smartest, most experienced and dedicated people who perform at a high level day in and day out.
MediRevv is recognized in the industry, community, and by their employees as being a great place to work. Four reasons attribute to this reputation: they treat people well, people want to work for a winning team, MediRevv does the right thing, and they have fun. Chris has the best interest of growth and has faith in his MediRevvers. He continues to learn and develop with the organization and is willing to adapt. The result of creating this employee culture is MediRevv has been recognized as: Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work (2011 & 2012), Inc. 5000 List of Americas Fastest Growing Companies (2012), Corridor Business Journals Fastest Growing Companies (2011) and Iowa Top Workplace (2012). Throughout his career, Chris has also personally received multiple awards and recognitions.
Chris enjoys being an instructor for the Graduate Program in Health Management and Policy at the University of Iowa College of Public Health. He is also very supportive of several activities and organizations in Johnson County. Currently he serves on the UI Dance Marathon Board of Directors and St. Patrick Catholic Churchs Finance Committee. His professional affiliations include: American College of Healthcare Executives, Healthcare Financial Management Association, and Medical Group Management Association. Chris and his wife Erin live in Iowa City with their three children Catherine, Benjamin, and Margaret.
