From in the background, Beth Horan keeps the wheels turning at Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa (JAEI). As an Operations Coordinator, she ensures everything runs smoothly for teams supporting JA programs, volunteers, and donors. Whether managing systems, assisting with data pulls, or contributing to committee efforts, her work touches every part of the organization, helping the mission thrive.
“Beth is an essential part of our operations team, ensuring everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly. Her attention to detail, reliability, and ability to solve problems quickly have a lasting impact on our organization. She approaches each task with professionalism and a commitment to excellence. We’re incredibly thankful for all she does to support the success of JAEI every single day.”
— Michelle Waldron, Vice President of Administration
Beth’s journey with JAEI began 4 ½ years ago, inspired by a passion for financial education and youth empowerment. They initially started in the education department, where she worked closely with educators and volunteers, bringing impactful programs to students across the Cedar Valley area. Over time, her role evolved into a position that influences all areas of JAEI, allowing her to collaborate with different departments and contribute from a broader operational perspective.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is witnessing the excitement of students as they engage with JA programs. There’s something special about walking into a classroom and seeing students light up with enthusiasm, eager to participate and learn. Those moments—when students connect deeply with the lessons and activities—serve as a constant reminder of the importance of JAEI’s mission.
Looking ahead, Beth is excited about the future of JA programming. As a former educator, she understands the value of hands-on, experiential learning. “I’m especially inspired by the development of programs like 3DE and other immersive educational experiences,” Beth shared. “These initiatives are paving the way for students to not just learn concepts, but to actively apply and refine their skills. By creating opportunities for students to collaborate, problem-solve, and engage in real-world challenges, JA is truly setting them up for long-term success.”
For Beth, being part of an organization that continues to innovate and inspire is deeply fulfilling. Their dedication, combined with the support of volunteers, donors, and community champions, helps ensure that JA’s impact continues to grow.
